Tar River Sail and Power Squadron – Boating Course

 A National Association of State Boating Law Administrators Certified Course

This is a basic boating class intended to be an intro to more advanced seamanship courses available to members of our boating club. Additional Power Squadron courses include: Seamanship, Piloting, GPS Navigation courses, Engine Maintenance, Marine Electronics, Cruise Planning, Weather Observation and Prediction, Sailing, and more.

Recreational Boating Class (Basic Skills Course)

Location: Parkers Chapel Baptist Church – Church Annex Building Side Entrance –                                  Old Pactolus Rd. at Greenville Blvd across from the Greenville Marine.

Class Begins:  March 4th – April 1st  Classes begin at 7:00 PM

Class: 4 sessions — 2 hours each session

Course Materials Include: Boating Course Book, Student Course CD, Digital Chart CD,                                                         Com Channel Guide, and Assoc. Reference Materials

March 25th – Practice: Figure 8 knot, Square Knot, Cleat Hitch

     CHAPTER 3

                        Finding Your Way

                        Anchoring

                        Communications Afloat

     Chapter review questions

April 1st

     CHAPTER 4

                        Water Sports Safety

                        Trailering

                         PWC Operations

                         Knots and Lines

     REVIEW FOR EXAM

There will be an exam on North Carolina with specific questions about boating as well. Course review and Certification exam (approx 1 hour). Receive Certificate and Invitation to join our club!
